Born in the Huon Valley, Tasmania, in 1926, Percy Anderson joined the RAAF after World War II, serving as a cook at Amberley for two years. Returning to Tasmania, he worked as a tractor and bulldozer operator before joining the Agricultural Bank's land development schemes in Tasmania and on King Island and later Flinders Island.
Allotted Lot 2 at Fairhaven, within a couple of years he married Edna and had a son. They attempted to establish a dairy farm but struggled with small acreage and severe wallaby problems. They felt the land was good for dairying but not large enough to be viable. They left Flinders Island in 1967 where he worked on major industrial projects in Tasmania and eventually retired to Launceston.
